Toshiba Cell ZX900 TV

The amount of kit a manufacturer can put inside a TV is obviously limited  so now Toshiba have unveiled their latest high-end TV which is so powerful it needs an external box to contain all the technology.

The latest high definition from Toshiba, the CELL TV with an external box packed with advanced technology

With an LED screen of either 55 or 65-inches the Toshiba CELL processor is over 140 times more powerful than those used in the latest high-end models and is 10 times faster than Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor which is found in most modern performance computers.

The box unit has a 1 terrabyte hard drive with the ability to record up to six HD channels at once, a Blu-ray player, an ethernet port and a Wi-Fii connection so you can send your media around the home without the need of cables.
The box will also be able to up-scale 1080p broadcasts to an amazing 2160p or 4k

The high contrast panel can easily play 3D content and can also convert regular broadcasts into 3D form.

Obviously all this power comes at a cost and although no prices have been announced it is thought that Cell TV will be aimed at the very high end home cinema enthusiast. The Cell will be available in the US by the autumn and in the UK early next year.
